In this course the learners will learn more about the three most basic categories of culture systems namely, Open Systems, Semi-closed Systems and Closed Systems. Many considerations determine which type of culture system is to be used. These include investments, energy, resources, topography and the species to be produced. Aquaculture systems are very diverse in design and function in order to accommodate the unique requirements of the wide range of species, environmental and geographical conditions. Advantages and disadvantages from the different systems will be compared.
